Set in a serene wooded setting on the North Oregon Coast, the Cannon Beach Equestrian Center was designed as an equestrian therapy retreat for abused children and youth groups such as Scouts and 4-H. The site has magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and down the majestic Oregon Coast.
The project includes an eight-stall barn, a riding arena, and a dormitory for visiting groups. The goal was to create a peaceful sanctuary where the intuitive senses of the horses could connect with each child, bringing peace and healing while building confidence. In keeping with the Northwest tradition, the buildings sit quietly among the trees, and natural materials and open connections to the outdoors make the landscape itself part of the healing experience.
